Language course in Heidelberg: stay in student residence & apartment
The dormitories of the Academy of Languages are a popular type of accommodation among international students. The Academy of Languages has five dormitories with a total of over 350 rooms of various types: single and double rooms, shared apartments or small apartments.
Our dormitories are divided into four categories (A, B, B+, C and E), graded by comfort and convenience. While in the dormitories Schmitt, Concordia and Turner you can cook with other international students in the communal kitchens and get to know each other easily, the dormitories März and F+U Campus have integrated pantry kitchens, which you use alone.
All dorm rooms, regardless of category, are equipped with a bed, a closet, a desk and a chair, and wi-fi.
In addition, residents of a dormitory share washing machines and dryers.
In some dormitories, you also share the bathroom and toilet in addition to the kitchen. Other dorms are more comfortably furnished and have a shower integrated into the room. The rooms in the March dormitory and the apartments on campus have their own fully equipped bathrooms with showers.
The dormitories are located in the Heidelberg districts of Kirchheim, Rohrbach, Südstadt, Bergheim and Altstadt. The language school in the heart of Heidelberg's Old Town can be reached by public transportation without changing trains.

My arrival is delayed. What do I have to do?
If your arrival is delayed due to force majeure, you must expect that we may no longer be able to guarantee your booked room category or your dormitory guarantee. In this case, we reserve the right to accommodate you in another residence hall and/or another residence hall category.
The price difference for a lower dormitory category or the dormitory guarantee amount will be fully refunded in this case, however, an additional charge due to a possibly necessary upgrade will not be made! An exception to this rule is only possible if the rent for the booked room is paid from the date of the originally planned move-in.
The broadcasting contribution
In Germany, public broadcasting is paid for by the monthly contributions of each household. It does not matter whether there is a TV connection or not. In return, you have a choice of 20 TV channels, more than 60 radio stations and plenty of digital offerings. Each dormitory room of the AOL is a separate household and is therefore subject to contributions. The monthly fee is 18,36 €. We have provided a practical FAQ about the broadcasting fee for you to download.
Is there free wifi?
All of our residence halls have free internet access. Please note that this is not a high-speed internet connection and that we do not accept any liability for technical faults, errors or failures. During the high season we rent additional rooms and apartments. Information about their equipment with internet is available on request.
What is available in the rooms
We will provide you with bed linen. Towels you should bring with you please.

Fee-free lease extensions must be requested from the Housing Department four weeks prior to the end of the lease. For extension requests of less than 14 days to the end of the contract, we charge a processing fee of €50.
However, we do not guarantee the rental extension of a specific room, as availability depends on the number of bookings. We do not reserve rooms as long as there is no binding booking.
How do I terminate my lease?
Cancellation of the current rental contract is generally excluded. As a gesture of goodwill, we allow the termination of the lease with a notice period of six full weeks (from the next Saturday) and a termination fee of 100€. The cancellation must be made in writing during the office opening hours of the accommodation department. If we can confirm the cancellation, advance rental payments will be refunded from the newly agreed end of the contract.
